GamingUnion.net Advert by Hardedge-Maelstrom GamingUnion.net Advert by Hardedge-Maelstrom
An ad for Gamingunion.net, should appear in the Montreal International Games Summit program book if things don't go awry xD

My first time playing around in Illustrator, a lot of the elements were done with that while the rest were done in Photoshop. I would really like some feedback and tips/suggestions if you have any, I'm not all that familiar with Illustrator so I'll take any advice I can get!

Never realized that the pen tool in Illustrator had a much higher level of fidelity than Photoshop's either! Pretty neat :)

This took...several hours, I didn't keep count but I know I started in the morning and now it's evening? xD Of course there was a lunch break and some PSP sessions in between.

Looks really good, man! The color scheme is very effective and the colors are well chosen. It's good that you have some white in there too as to not overwhelm the eye with too many colors.

The two instances that you've used cyan really stand out, and one makes it look like that front person is holding a box. With such limited use, it would have been really effective if you had used it more deliberately, such as if the people were holding controllers, PSPs, games etc.

I think a few of the shapes stand out too much without having any real meaning, though they do look nice. The ones I have most issue with are next to the PSP and Wii controller, which together for this sort of bat-wing shape that I can't get out of my head now. With the right shape in particular, with it crossing into the white of the upper right corner and being essentially parallel, it demands a lot of attention and takes precedence over the Wii controller.

It looks like you used wavy lines for these and put them at a perspective, as to give the image depth and movement, which is a great approach, but sometimes you have to really pay attention to hierarchy with these shapes and fine-tune them accordingly.

It's a wonderful design, and I'm really impressed. Keep it up!

Haha yeah I forgot about the DS xD

I was quite scared that the colours were too bright but I love the pink too much to get rid of it xD

It appears you did not represent the DS! --- though I'm not a big fan of the DS. Hahahah.
